Club Membership

1. Who can join the club?
You must be:
an employee of the HSE,
work within the town of Letterkenny
and
be paid through either Letterkenny University Hospital salaries or St Joseph’s Hospital Salaries Department.
or
a retired employee who was a club member when employed with the HSE, and
has a HSE pension.

2. I work in for HSE community services, can I join the S&S club?
The club was set-up and continues to be for the staff working in Letterkenny University Hospital. However, if you work for HSE community services within the town of Letterkenny, then as long as the subscription can be set-up via your salary department, you can join.

3. How do I join the club?
Go to the club website and download an application form. Complete and sign it and send or email it to the contact’s name provided on the form. Please note, new applications are accepted up until September 30th each year.

4. What are the club membership fees and how do I pay?
The club membership fee is currently €1.00 per week and this is deducted directly from your pay by the salaries department. No other form of payment is accepted.

5. How long does it take to set up membership?
Once your application has been received, we aim to have everything set up within a month, but this can depend on the number of applications coming in. Please check when the membership fees start being deducted from your pay slip.

6. How do I check if I am a member?
If your pay slip shows the club deductions, then you are a member, however if you don’t have a membership ID card, follow the instructions in question 10.
If there are no deductions showing, then you are not a member and you will need to complete an application form found on the website.

7. How do I cancel my membership?
Your membership can be cancelled at any time. Contact your salaries department and request they cancel your subscription. It will usually take 2 weeks to process, your cancellation is effective from the date of receipt of your email??
Membership ID Cards

8. What are membership ID cards for?
Membership ID cards confirm you are a club member. You will be asked for your club membership number when booking places or buying tickets for events. Membership ID cards also permit you to avail of discounts offered by local retailers on the club Discount List. Please present your card to the retailer, even if not requested to by the retailer.

9. Membership fees are being deducted from my salary, but I have not received a membership ID card.

10. I have lost my membership ID card; can I get a new one please?
Send an email to luhsportsandsocialclub@hse.ie with your staff number, membership number & telephone number to request a replacement. There may be a charge for this.

11. Why doesn’t my membership ID card have a number on it?
Sorry about this printing error. Please send an email to luhsportsandsocialclub@hse.ie with your staff number & telephone number and we’ll arrange for a replacement.
Retired Employees

12. I am a retired employee. Can I join the club?
If you were a member before you retired, you can re-join the club. See question 14 below. If you were not a member while you were employed, then unfortunately you cannot join.

13. I am a retired employee and I think I am a member. How do I check?
The details will be on your monthly retirement pay slip, it will be around €4.35 per month. If you are unable to check your pay slip, please send an email to luhsportsandsocialclub@hse.ie with your staff number & telephone number and we’ll check for you and call you back.

14. I have retired and payment for S&S club has stopped. How can I continue my membership?
Pensions need to be informed that you wish to continue your club deductions, and the club will need to know your new details. Complete a new application form (see question 3) with your updated details and send it in, stating you wish you continue your membership. We will then forward the form to the Pensions department and they will set your deductions back up.
Club Events

15. How do I book a place / buy tickets for an event?
Full details of who to contact to book any of the club events or buy tickets can be found on the event advertisement / poster.

16. How are events advertised?
Events are advertised on Facebook, on the club website, by email from the club website emailing list, and on S&S notice boards. These are located outside the main canteen, in the St Conal’s tea room and in the ‘Nurses Home’ building.

17. How can I join the emailing list to receive notifications about events?
Go to the home page of the website (www.luhsportsandsocialclub.com) and scroll down to the near the bottom of the page and look for the ‘Subscribe’ box to appear.

Click on this and the following box will appear:

Fill in your email address and click ‘Sign me up’. You will then receive an email asking you to confirm your details (check your junk folder for this as it sometimes ends up there). Once you’ve confirmed, you will receive an email whenever a new posting is put on the website.

Prizes

19. I think I won a prize. How do I check?
Check the advertisements on the website and the Facebook page and if you are still unsure, send an email to luhsportsandsocialclub@hse.ie with your staff number, your membership number and your telephone number, and we will get back to you.

20. Where do I collect my prize?
Send an email to the club treasurer; Tara Gallagher at tara.gallagher1@hse.ie with your staff number, membership number and telephone number and she will get back to you. Prizes must be collected within 3 months.
Business Discount Scheme

21. Which businesses offer discounts to members?
The details of all businesses offering discounts can be found on the Discount List page of the club website.

22. How can I get discount with a business on the discount list?
Present your membership ID card at the point of purchase. Even if the retailer does not request the card, please present it.
